2.) The length of a picture is 4/3 times its width. It is placed in a picture frame of uniform width of 2 cms, what are the dimensions of the picture?

Draw the garden plot. put the lengths on the sides

Draw the path.

4 sections of the path (the outer edge of the path)  have the same lengths as the garden, only the corners are different.

Each corner will have an added length of x units by x units. Look at your diagram and see if you can understand what i am referring to.

Maybe you can take it from there?  Let me know how you get on :)

2.) I'm sorry for another typo. The question was supposed to be:

The length of a picture is 4/3 times its width. It is placed in a picture frame of uniform width of 2 cms. If the are of the frame is 100 sq.cms., what are the dimensions of the picture?
