Hey I'm studying for my EOC test and I don't remember how to find the equation of a line without using a graph. I have the point (5.5) and a slope of 5/4 Any help?
Use the point-slope form
y - y1 = m ( x - x1) where m = the slope and (x1, y1) = (5, 5) ..... so we have
y - 5 = (5/4) (x - 5) simplify
y - 5 = (5/4)x - 25/4 add 5 to both sides
y = (5/4)x - 25/4 + 5
y = (5/4)x - 25/4 + 20/4
y = (5/4)x - 5/4 and that's in slope-intercept form
