If a picnic is located at the midpoint between Sacramento and Oakland , find the distance to the picnic from the road sign. Then the road sign says the following "Roseville - 5 , Sacramento - 23 , Oakland - 110.I got 43.5 miles as my answer am I right?
This IS a little confusing........if the road sign says 110 miles to Oakland and 23 to Sacramento (and we assume that the road sign is somewhere between the two cities ), then the distance betwen the two cities must be 133 miles. And the midpoint of this distance is 66.5 miles. So, if the picnic is located at this midpoint it would be (66.5 - 23) = 43.5 miles from the sign.
Here's a rough picture of the situation (definitely NOT to scale!!):
Sacramento.....................................Midpoint..........................Road Sign................................Oakland
.........................66.5...........................l..........43.5................... Road Sign..............23.........................
The distance to Roseville seems irrelevant.....!!!!
