I don't understand how it's used in the story.
Story sentence:
"that is the language that dragons speak, and the language the Segoy spoke who made the islands of the world, and the language of our lays and songs, spells, enchantments, and invocations."
Please help.

+5478 Is that from a fantasy book? In that case, "lays," similar to "Segoy," would most likely be words the author made up. Personally, I would ignore the word.

The Ghost does seems to know what’s in a person’s heart. It is a little spooky, but not frightening.
