The first vehicle has a   2.25*64 = 144km head start.

So now I will take the time from where the second vehicle leaves.

 

At any point in future time  let t be in hours

Vehicle 1 will have travelled       144+ 64t

Vehicle 2 will have travelled                112t

 

They  will be at the same point when,

144+64t=112t

144        = 48t

t = 144/48 = 3 hours

Let the time taken by "a"= t

64t = 112(t - 2.25), solve for t

t = 21/4 =5 1/4 hours - time taken by "a"

5.25 - 2.25 = 3 hours - when "b" will catch up with "a"
