Let x be the first number and x + 8 the second

So  x(x + 8) = 105    simplify and rearrange

x2 + 8x - 105 - 0   factor

(x - 7) (x + 15)  = 0

Setting both factors to 0, we have that x = 7 or x = -15

So, if ix = 7,   x + 8 = 15

And if x = -15   x + 8 = -7
