Our basketball team has finished 80% of its season, during which we won 40% of the games we played. What percent of the remainder of our games must we win in order to finish the season with the same number of wins as losses?

Number of games in season = N

Number of games played = 0.8N    Number of games remaining = 0.2N

Number of games won so far = 0.4*0.8*N = 0.32N

Assuming there are no draws then total number of wins must be 0.5N to match total number of losses

Hence number of remaining games that must be won = 0.5N - 0.32N = 0.18N

As a percentage of the number of remaining games this is 100*0.18/0.2 =  90%
