The four points (−2, 5), (−2, −1), (6, −1), and (3, 5) are the vertices of a polygon. What is the area, in square units, of this polygon?

This forms a trapezoid.....the bases  are 5 and 8 units  and the height is 6

So.....the area  =   (1/2)height [ sum of the bases ]  =  (1/2) (6) [5 + 8 ]  =

3 [ 13 ]   =  39 square units
