A little unclear....do you need to convert everything into metric?  Or leave it in SAE?

First of all your parameters are NOT metric, so I will proceed with SAE

Acouple of equations that you should know and will need:

pf = po + vt + 1/2 a t^2

  " Position(final) equals ORIGINAL position plus velocity times time plus 1/2 acceleration times time squared."

vf = vo + at    Velocity(final) equals original velocity plus  acceleation times time

po = 80 ft   pf=0  vo=0  a = -32 ft/sec^2

pf= po + vt + 1/2 at^2    Substituting:

0 = 80 + (o)t + 1/2 (-32) t^2     Solving for t results in  t=2.236 seconds for the egg to go 'splat'

Substitute THIS value of 't' into the second equation to see how fast it is going at impact:

vf= 0 + at     =  - 32(2.236)  =  71.554 ft/sec DOWNWARD.
