Try watching this Tassy. (Also try to repeat what he has done by yourself)

Then try your own question. :)
For your example I suggest that you multiply the first one by 2
and multiply the second one by 5
i have but then i conclude with..
x=-3.4
y=5.48
but still ill have a go thank you Melody xxx
No, your answers are not quite right. They should both be whole integers, one positive and one negative.
3x+5y=19
4x-2y=-18
Multiply the first one by 2 and the second one by 5
6x+10y=38
20x-10y=-90 (+)
----------------------
Now you add them
26x+10y-10y=-52
26x=-52 => x=-52/26
x=-2
Then you replace this value of x in order to find y
For example using the first equation:
3x+5y=19 => 3*(-2)+5y=19 => -6+5y=19 => 5y=25 => y=25/5
y=5
