Solve the inequality -8r<-12.

Enter your answer as an inequality with just r on the left side. For example, if the inequality in the problem were true for all negative r, then you'd enter "r<0" (without the quotation marks). If it were true for all r greater than or equal to 3, then you'd enter "r>=3".

-8r < -12

Add 8r to both sides

0 < 8r - 12

Add 12 to both sides

12 < 8r

Divide both sides by 8

12/8 < r  or 3/2 < r

This says r is greater than 3/2 so you could write it as r > 3/2 if you want r on the left.

(An alternative approach is simply to divide both sides by -8 immediately, but because you divide by a negative number you must change the < to a >)
