Temperature on the planet mars range from -122 degrees celcius to 30 degrees celcius. Find the difffernce between these two numbers.

Whenever your measuring distance, or something like it, you abolute the numbers your subtracting.

 

For example, say you have these two numbers on a number line and you want to find the distance.

 

 

You wouldn't just do -2 -1 to find the distance, because that would give you -1 and that doesn't make any sense.

You would want to do |-2 -1| which would be |-1| and then 1. The distance is 1. That makes more sense.

 

Anyway, let's apply this to your question. The temps. range from -122 to 30. To find the difference, subtract them in absolute values.

|-122 - 30|

|-152|

152

 

So the difference in the temps. on Mars is 152 degrees celcius.
