the cost to a store for an mp3 player is $60. The selling price is $105 a classmate says that the markup is 175% because $105/$60= 1.75 is your classmate correct? If not, explain how to find the correct percent of markup

The mark-up on the cost is given by

[ Sales Price - Cost ] / Cost =

[ 105 - 60 ] / 60 =

45 / 60  =

.75 = 75% markup on the cost 

So, the sales price is 175% of the cost
