Well it seems to me that a 300 page novel only realy has 150 peices of paper to it. 

odd pages on the front side and even pages on the back side.

So

24.25 cm   :   My goodness those pages are very think!

Melody beat me to it, and made a better assumption on pages!

Um hi melody, but my mum checked the answer sheet and said its wrong..

Replace Melody's 150 by 300 and see if that gives the same result as the answer sheet.  Personally, I like Melody's answer!

It still wrong the answer is 46 3/4

this is the real step: 300*3/20+(7/8*2)=46 3/4
