a man is watching a helicopter flying over a house that is 900 ft from him and the angle is 49 degrees. how high is the helicopter?

Sin(49) =Height/900

0.75471=H / 900

H=679.24 feet-the height of the helicopter.

It depends which angle you mean but I think it is the angle between the vertical and the direction that the plane is sited at.

 

so

cos 49 = height/900

height = 900 cos 49 = 900*cos(49) = 590.4531260919

 

590 feet.

I assume that the man is 900 ft from the house and the helicopter is directly over this house....so.....the height, h, of the helicopter can be found thusly:

 

tan (49)  = h / 900

 

h = 900*tan (49)  = about 1035.33 ft
