the angle of elevation of a building 80 meters high from a man on the ground is 50 degrees. How far is the man from the building? In order that the angle of elevation is halved, how much farther should the man walk away from the base of the building?

Distance from building   =     80/tan(50)  = about 62.13 m

 

Distance to half the elevation angle  =    80 / tan(40)  = 95.34 m

 

So.....he should walk       95.34 - 62.13  = 33.21 m    farther away from the building
