I was wondering what the two exponent means. I know it has to do something with area.

It means two things, it can mean  the number before it is, is multiplied by itself so the number is squared  - this is if it comes after a number. For example. 6 = 36

But if the comes after a length for example cm2  , it means the area is squared so if you have a area that is 2 cm X 2 cm, the area is 4 cm2
