What is (2/3) to the second power - 3/4 x (2 1/3)?

(2/3) to the second power is  (2/3)²  =  (2/3)·(2/3)  =  4/9

2 1/3 as a common fraction is  (2 x 3 + 1) / 3  =  7/3

3/4 x (7/3)  =  (3 x 7) / (4 x 3)  =  21 / 12  =  -7/4     [reduced]

Putting all these together:  4/9 - 7/4   =   4/9 + 7/4

The common denominator is 36            =  16/36 - 63/36   =  -47/36
