A tangent is also a conversional form that leads from and to unrelated subjects and ideas.

For example: someone starts talking about apples then that leads to pears then to bananas then to monkeys then to Chimps then to primates then to missing links then to certain members on this forum.

Each may just be touched on before moving on to the next.

Next time a conversional cotangent.

A tangent to a circle is a line in the plane of the circle that intersects the circle in one point.

It will be perpendicular to the radius of the circle at the point where the radius and tangent intersect.

Other curves beside circles,  also have tangents.
