It all depends.

  • If the radius is 1.4 and the height is 40cm then the volume is about 246.3.
  • If the radius is 40 cm and the height is 1.4 then the volume is about 7037.17.
  • If the diameter is 1.4 and the height 40 then the volume is about 61.58.
  • If the diameter is 40 and the height is 1.4 then the volume is about 1759.29

The formula for all of these is $$\mathrm{\ }$$πr (squared) h or 3.14 times the radius squared times the height. You  can just plug in the numbers using this formula to find any volume of any cylinder.
