Rodrigo wants to paint the walls and ceiling in a room that is 14 feet by 16 feet with an 8 foot high ceiling. He will not paint the double door, which has a measurement of 6 feet by 7 feet. One gallon of paint will cover 350 square feet. The paint sold in gallon containers only. How many gallons of paint will need to buy?

The square footage that he needs to paint is given by:

 

2 [14 + 16] * 8 + (16* 14) - (7 * 6) =  662  sq ft

 

So 662/350  = about 1.9 gallons......but we can't buy "partial" cans.....so....we need 2 gallons = "A"
