10 to the power of anything is just one followed by zeroes(unless the exponent is negative). The number of zeroes is the value fo the exponent. So 10^3 is 1000. Then, you multiply it by 2, in which all you have to do is multiply the 1 in the 1000 by two, and you will get 2000.
So, yes, 2000=2x10^3.
