Standard deviation refers to how far away data values are from the mean.
For example, if we had data with the following values: 5,5,5,5
The mean is 5*4/4 = 20/4 = 5.
The standard deviation is 0 because all the values are 5.
However, if we had the following: 0,5,5,100
The mean would now be [(0+5+5+100) / 4] = 110 / 4 = 27.5.
Note: The mean is 27.5 and none of the values are exactly 27.5 so our standard deviation is not 0, but...a different number!
