First, we isolate x+y=1 into

x=1-y

Then we isolate k into

k(1-y)+y=2

Which gets us k=(2-y)/(1-y)

Now we know that y can't be 1

We then isolate y.

1-y+(2-y)/(1-y)=3

Y is 2/3

Substitude 2/3

And we get... k=4

Substitude AGAIN and we get x=1/3

BABABABOWWWW!

The fourth root of 16 is 2. Those are the ways to write 2 in forms of i.

Because 16 is a perfect 4th power.
