This is a sphere in a sphere
find volume of larger - volume of smaller = volume of paint required
volume of a sphere 4/3 pi r^3
4/3 pi ( 10.0013 - 103 ) = .......... m3 of paint required
Smallest -2 *17 = -34
Largest 14 * 17 = 238
14 - -2 = 16 PLUS 0 = 17 multiples of 17 between -50 and + 250
8 is to x as x is to 5 (similar triangles)
8/x = x/5
x^2 = 40
x = sqrt 40
Ya left out all of the pertinent numbers !
x = first integer
x-1 = other integer
x (x-1) = 2550
x^2 -x -2550 = 0 quadratic formula shows x = -51 or 50
x = -50 x-1 = -51
Another way sqrt 2550 = ±50.49 so the two numbers are very close to this - 50.49 ~~ -50 then the other is -51
If x is the larger integer the smaller one will be x-1
multiplied together they equal 20
x (x-1) = 20

Maybe you meant 4^x^2 + 16x =3 ? Divide through by 4
x^2 + 4x = 3/4 take 1/2 of the x coeffecient (which is 4) ....square it and add it to the equation on both sides
x^2 +4x + 4 = 3/4 +4
(x+2)^2 = 4 3/4 now take sqrt of both sides
x+2 = ±√(19/4)
x = -2 ±√(19) /2
She has a total burn time of 3 + 4 + 5 = 12 hours
if two are burning at a time she has a total time available of 12 / 2 = 6 hours
