Here is another one
0.15 = 0.3 + x(0.33)
1-x
I hope this comes out right. the 0.3 + x(0.33) is all over 1-x

Solve for x
It has been so long since my last math class I completely forgot how to do this. Solve for x
.30 = x(1) - (1 - x).15
I think...
.3 = x - (.15 - .15x)
That's about as far as I can get.

Hello Melody!
0.15(1-x) = 0.3 + 0.33x
0.15 - 0.15x = 0.3 + 0.33x
(then I add 0.15x to both sides and subtract 0.3 from both sides)
0.15 - 0.3 = 0.15x + 0.33x
-0.15 = 0.48x
-0.15/0.48 = x
x = -0.312
?
Thanks for showing me how to set up the problem. Again it's one of those things I use to know but forgot over the years

Oh thanks so much!
Now that you mention it I do remember that you have to change all the signs in the brackets when multiplying by a -
I would have never remembered to factor out the x though (the 5th line in your work)
Thanks so much again

0.30 = 0.15 (1) - (1 - 0.15) x
0.30 = 0.15 - (0.85)x Thanks for that
0.15 = -0.85x
0.15/-0.85 = x
-0.176 = x
?

Okay
.30 = .15(1) - (1 - .15)x
.30 = .15 - (1 - .15)x
.15 = -(x - .15x)
.15 = (x + .15x) can I do that with the signs?
.15 = 1.15x
.15/1.15 = x
.13 = x
Is that right?
