The thing is, Maths exists everywhere we go. So without maths, we wouldnt have what we have now, we may not even be here! Maths is the basis to everything (except English [but we still do use maths when we write. Letter sizing, shape etc.]). From the simplest everyday things we have, to the most complex designs the world has seen, Maths is used everywhere. Even if our numbers are different in languages, even if we dont speak the same Languages, Maths is a worldwide communication.

In other words, Maths is the only Language we use to communicate with people who cannot speak the same language (this is English, Spanish, Chinese, French, by the way) as we do.

we often bat our eyes at the things we take as an advantage today. Maths is an indescribable thing we have to keep track of our everyday lives. It cannot be described, and it will never be gone.

How were the pyramids built? Maths.

How are computers built? Maths

How do we know how many things we have? Maths.

How do we get to different places or countries? MATHS.

How do we know what medicine, what dosage to take? English? no, i'm sorry, but its Maths again.

Anything you can think of has maths involved. If it ever "just got up and [left] and no one can [ever recovered] it", everything will also be gone.

Your question of "Why does math exist the way it is?" also cannot be answered. Maths has existed eons before man and animals have. It has probably even existed before the Earth was created by the Big Bang! Maths is similar to one of our natural elements: Earth, Water, Fire and Air. It has existed for a long time.

On that happy note, thats all i really have to say........ sorry if it got a little bit repetative........... XD
