1.  Not sure about these types of questions:

      Translate circle one 6 to the right and down 4 and scale it by a factor of 3  ??

2.  Area of the ENTIRE circle (360 degrees)   is pi r^2    (r=12)

      you want the area of 60 out of 360 degrees....this faction is 60/360

      So:   (60/360)  x pi x 12^2 =   24 pi   in^2

Sin 30 =  14/x

x = 14/sin30

x = 14/(.5)

x=28

I will assume  4 sin (3x) + 3

Original surface area = 3 x 3 * 6 = 54 in^2

Remove 8 x 3 in^2 = 24 in^2       

add   the 2 inch cubes   surface area   2x 2 x 6  x8 = 192 in ^2

             less the surface area covered by putting in the corners  3 x 8 = 24 in^2

54 -24 + 192 - 24 = 198 in^2

Area of a circle = pi r^2

for the semicircle portion the area will be  1/2 pi r^2 = 1/2 pi (4^2)

For the triangle portion, area = 1/2 b h      b = 8  h = 4      1/2 (8)(4)

Add the reds together for the total area.....
