What if I put the question like this:

First answer this question:

Every basket has 5 apples in it. There are 2 baskets. How many apples are there?

Now answer this one.

Every yard has 3 feet. There are 43 yards. How many feet are there?

I know this has already been answered but here's another way of looking at it:

To find the area, you can find the area of the big rectancle and subtract the areas of the green, red, and orange triangles. Then you're left with just the area of the blue triangle.

area = rectangle - green - red - orange

area = (5)(9) - (1/2)(5)(3) - (1/2)(4)(5) - (1/2)(9)(2)

area = 45 - 7.5 - 10 - 9

area = 18.5 square units 

The angle between the tower and the hypotenuse is 180 - 90 - 30 = 60º

The angle between the hypotenuse of the right triangle and the flagpole is 180 - 60 = 120º.

The angle between the flagpole and the top line is 30º.

Use Law of Sines to find the hypotenuse of the right triangle.

\(\frac{5}{\sin30}=\frac{x}{\sin30} \\~\\ x = 5\)

Then you can find the height of the tower.

sin30 = tower/5

tower = 5sin30

tower = 2.5 m

I did this but I thought it was wrong because the tower was so short, but I'll go ahead and post it now because I drew a picture :)

The radius of the hour hand is 20 units

The radius of the minute hand is 2(20) = 40 units

The circumference of the hour hand's circle = 2(20)π = 40π units

The circumference of the minute hand's circle is 2(40)π = 80π units

The tip of the hour hand goes 1/12 of the circumference of its circle in one hour.

If the backyard is square, what are the dimensions?

perimeter = 4(length of one side)

144 = 4(length of one side)

36 m= length of one side

So the dimensions are 36 m by 36 m.

If the backyard is rectangular, and the length is three times the

width, what are the dimensions?

perimeter = 2(length + width)

144 = 2[3(width) + (width)]

144/2 = 3(width) + (width)

72 = 4(width)

18 m = width

length = 3(18) = 54 m

So the dimensions are 54 m by 18 m

I can't see the picture for the third one for some reason.

area = 1/2 × b × h

All you need to do is replace "b" with the number that they give you for b, and replace the "h" with the number that they give you for h. Then just multiply the three numbers together. And don't forget to write the square units at the end.

Triangle G:

area = 1/2 × b × h

area = 1/2 × 37 × 22

area = 407 square millimeters

Triangle H:

area = 1/2 × b × h

area = 1/2 × 62.5 × 20

area = 625 square kilometers

Triangle I:

area = 1/2 × b × h

area = 1/2 × 44.6 × 40.3

area = 898.69 square meters

You also could have meant:

\((\frac{256}{81})^{\frac{1}{4}} =\frac{256^{\frac{1}{4}}}{81^{\frac{1}{4}}} = \frac{4}{3}\)
