I set this type of problem up a little differently from Alan. Let 3 gallons of the 40% solution be reperesented by 3(.40). And let the amount of added 100% solution be represented by 1x. And let the amount of the resulting 90% solution be represented by  (3 + x)(.90)....so we have......

3(.40) + 1x =  (3 + x)(.90)   simplify

1.2 + x = 2.7 +.9x      combine like terms

.1x = 1.5      divide both sides by .1

x = 15 gallons

And that's the amount of 100% solution that should be added.

I suspect that the questioner meant that angle TUV is bisected by UW.....and I suspect that he/she wants to know the measure of TUV.....and as Alan stated, it = 106 degrees.

Just a guess.

Use the on-site calculator......multiply    .53 x 5808  ...   this will give you your answer

Let's look at this for a second before we worry about a graph.....the reason for this will be clear in a moment...

 –2(y – 2) < 2(y – 4)   let's simplify this

-2y + 4  < 2y - 8   add 8 to both sides and add 2y to both sides.....so we have

12 < 4y     divide both sides by 4

12/4 < y   =    3 < y       which  is the same thing as     y > 3

Note that this is easier to deal with than the original equation!!!!

The graph of this includes every point in the x-y plane that lies ABOVE (but, not ON) the line y = 3.....!!!!

First, divide both sides by 8

So we have

-59/8 ≥  u   or, put another way     .......    u ≤ -59/8  ......I always like to put the variable on the left side of an inequality.......just a personal preference.......

Rosala....think of two perfect squares......one that is less than 47 and one that's greater than 47. The one that is less than 47 is 36, and the one that isgreater than 47 is 49. So, notice that √36 = 6 and √49 = 7. So, it seems as though the √47must lie between 6 and 7.....!!!

And,as Alan has shown, this is indeed true...!!!
