Hexadecimal is just base₁₆

  find the biggest exponent of 16 that goes into 1000                 

                16²  = 256 goes in there 3 times with 232 left over      first number is 3 x x

                      now what exponent of 16 goes into 232       16   goes in there 14   with 8 left over

                                  hexadecimal numbers are 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A B C D E F       14 corresponds to E

                                            so the second number is  'E'     3Ex

                                                   the leftover '8' goes in the last slot ....it represents 16⁰  x 8  with no leftover

                                                          so our hex equivalent of 1000 becomes    3 E 8

Since the tringles are congruent, their relavent sides are the same

   the htpotenuses are the same    soooo   13 = 4x + 1

                                                                     12 = 4x

                                                                        x = 3

now you can find 'y' too

   the bottom sides are =

       2(3) + y = 8(3) - 2y

         6 + y   = 24 - 2y

              3y = 18

                 y = 6

     try this      9999 * 10 000      - 9999

This a bowl shaped parabola, the 'x' value of the vertex will be  -b/2a    where    a = 2   and   b = -4

                             'complete the square'    take 1/2 of the x coefficient square and add it ....and subtract it

3 (x^2-8x+16)      -48 + 72  

                                     (notice we had to subtract 3 times 16 because it is in the bracket multiplied by 3

3 (x-4)^2 +24    now you can add a b and c

From the first triangle the sum of angles = 180   which means   x = 53

then since the triangle are congruent    11 = x - y   = 53-y    which means y = 42
