= 8y¹¹ + 4y¹⁰ + 8y⁹ + 4y⁸ - 4y¹⁰ - 2y⁹ - 4y⁸ -2y⁷

Yeah that's what I was thinking too... maybe they made a typo? If it were ceiling, r could equal 7.5

(3 - x)(3x² + x - 4)

= 9x² + 3x -12 - 3x³ -x² + 4x

= -3x³ + 8x² + 7x - 12

(5x² - 6x + 7)(4x² + tx + 10)

= 20x⁴ + 5tx³ + 50 x² - 24x³ - 6tx² - 60x + 28x² + 7tx + 70
 

= 20x⁴ + (5t - 24)x³ + (78 - 6t)x² + (7t - 60)x + 70

-54x³ = (5t - 24)x³
         t = -6
 

114x² = (78 - 6t)x²

        t = -6

-102x = (7t - 60)x

        t = -6

The ceiling of -7/4 is -1, is it not?

Is that symbol absolute value? Because if so, your answer is 7/4.
