I assume that the 5 less is supposed to be $5000 less...if so....

Let the 2009 cost be C  ....and we have.....

2C- 5000 = 25000     add 5000 to each side

2C = 30000    divide both sides by 2

C = $15000    = 2009 cost

65km/hr =  325/18 m/s

70km/hr = 175/9 m/s   = 350/18 m/s

So in 10 sec.....the first car is 10 * 325/18 m  = 3250/18 m ahead of the other when the second car reaches the line

And we need to solve this

( 350/18 - 325/18) T =  3250/18       multiply both sides by 18

[350 - 325] T   = 3250

25T =  3250     divide both sides by 25

3250/25 = T =  130 seconds

Proof.......the second car closes the gap between the two vehicles by [25/18]m/s

In 130 s, the first car is 3250/18m ahead

So, in 130 s the second car makes up.....130* (25/18) =  3250/18 m  and closes the gap

Let the smaller number be x....then the larger number is  2x + 10....so we have

[x] +  [2x + 10]  = 97    simplify

3x + 10  = 97      subtract 10 from both sides

3x = 87        divide both sides by 3

x = 29    and this is the smaller number

And   2(29) + 10  =  68  is the larger number

I assume that you want to show that the base of the triangle [ or top of the trapezoid] is parallel to the bottom side of the trapezoid.

Since the base angle of the triangle and the trapezoid are congruent, these are corresponding angles cut by a transversal formed by the side of the trapezoid and the side of the triangle. And lines cut by a transversal such that  their corresponding angles are equal are themselves parallel.

5000/3 = about $1666.66

x⁴ = 2   take the positive and negative 4th roots

x = (plus/minus) ⁴root(2)
