The average cost of car in 2013 is said to be 5 less than twice the cost of a car in 2009. If the average cost of a car in 2013 is $25,000, how much was the average cost of a car in 2009?
I assume that the 5 less is supposed to be $5000 less...if so....
Let the 2009 cost be C ....and we have.....
2C- 5000 = 25000 add 5000 to each side
2C = 30000 divide both sides by 2
C = $15000 = 2009 cost
