OK.....if we have

[a²b - 7a²] / a⁵       we can factor out an a²  at the top and we have

[(a²) (b - 7)] / a⁵   =

[b - 7 ] / a³ 

Isn't my answer the same thing as your second "possible" answer ???

Note, DS, that we have the law of exponents that says  aⁿ / a^m   = a ^n-m

So.....look at the fraction....we have

7 * ( a² / a⁵)     and using this law, we have

7 * (a ^2-5 )  =   7 * a^-3

And remember that  a^-n   = 1 / aⁿ

So.......

7 * a^-3  =   7 * ( 1 / a³)  = (7 / a³ )

So...our answer should be

a²b - (7/a³)

Let P be the original price.

And the number sentence representing the daily decrease is given by .... P - $3N  ... where N is the number of days that have elapsed since the price = P.

So, at the end of  5 days, the price is  ...... P - $3(5)  = P - $15

So, the change is just (the ending value) - (the beginning value) = (P - $15) - (P) =   -$15

We could set this up and solve it algebraically, but here's an easier way:

Divide 465 by 3 = 155

So  .... 155 + 155 + 155   = 465

Subtract 2 from the first number and add 2 to the last number ....  and we get....

153 + 155 + 157 = 465

And there are the three consecutive odd numbers !!!

find the slope y= -8x-5

We have the form ....  y = mx ± b       where m is the slope

So, m = -8

And that's the slope
