Just add the fractions and divide by the number of fractions we have.....

So we have.....

1/2+ 5/8+ 4/6 + 3/2 = 79/24   Now...divide this 4  =

79/96

I assume you want to factor this.....so we have

3x^2-3x-36      take out the common factor (3)

3(x^2 - x -12)        Now, we're looking for two numbers that multiply to -12 and sum to -1......-4 and 3 seem to work......so we have

4(x - 4) (x + 3)

And there you go.......

 [56.28 /  6 ] = 9.38 lbs per bag

Here's an easy way to work this kind of problem......

Alex paints 1/6 of the wall in one hour and David paints 1/4 of the wall in one hour.

Let's just add these fractions...

1/6 + 1/4  = 10/24

Now...just take the reciprocal of this

24/10 = 2.4    .....and there's your answer (in hours)

50 x 80  =  4000

4(x-2)= -3(2x+6)    distributing the 4 and the -3 over the terms in the parentheses, we have

4x - 8 = -6x - 18    add 6x and 8 to both sides

10x = -10              divide both sides 10

x = -1
