Rosela, yeh calculators can be used, but it is maybe very difficult to do without one. For example I have no experience before this year and enter into calculus based engineering degree (first year). The calculator does not provide an answer it manifests one from your manual calculations. ALthough, I do think that it is more benificial to use a CAS which I don't know how which can help in many respects with calculations. Additionally the exam is only short 2 hours, but also the calculator is excluded from exams in later years of the degree depending on the subject. 

Is the perpendicular tangent to a line -1/m? if so why is it also the normal tangent? This has me confused, or im ilinformed.

you mentioned the chain rule a few times, is that, product rule states f'(x) = g'(x)*h(x) + g(x) * h'(x) the same as uv' + vu'. Looks like it. Then what is To find y '', we just extend the product rule over one more function, i.e. 
y' = fgh 
y'' = f' gh + fg' h + fgh' , and why is it applied to the second derrivative?

Thanks, I have emailed the guy who wrote the exam to clarify facts about this matter. Thanks.  In other questions  of indefinate integrals, I believe it was right when calculated in degrees. But have had some problems with this so im not sure. I'l wait for a reply email from the person in question. Thanks for this assistance.

my logic isn't floored. No other number has sqrt that will change, and no other number has a sqrt that increases its size. I can't agree with that. it would be the only number to not have a fixed root since from what I know infinity is changing either approaching on 1, or exapnding further away. As well, only 1 has a sqrt of its self, but it is fixed and not moving.So rather wouldn't it be better to make the sqare root infinity -1? 

As well sqrt(infinity) is not equal to infinity. As the definition of square root is  (the result of multiplying the number by itself, or y × y) which defuses a belief it can be its self since sqrt(infinity) equals infinity, just made infinity an infinity times bigger. But that would also be another first, the only number to grow as a result of a square root. Just can't agree with it.

If you mean (1/3)⁸ = (-1/3)^n-1 then n = 9 is an integer solution.

Please explain where the - sign in (-1/3) comes from to make lhs = rhs.

im not sure, but only one question is in radian on the exam sample, which specifies radians and gives the sign of radians. All others I have taken to be in degrees.
