The  sum  of  the roots  =  k/2  ⇒   k =  2 *(sum of the roots)

And  the  product of  the roots  =  28 /2   =   14

Either

7 * 2   =  14         and  the   sum of roots  = 2(7 + 2)  =  18  =   k

or

14 * 1  = 14          and  the  sum of  the roots  = 2 ( 14 + 1)   = 30  =  k

or

-7 * - 2  =  14        and  the  sum  of  the roots  = 2(-7 + -2)  =  -18  = k

or

-14 * -1  =  14        and the  sum of  the roots  = 2 9-14 + -1)  = -30 = k

The  sum of all possible k's =   0

f (2)  =  2(2) - 20  =  -16

So

2 - 16 =  - 14

So   we need  f(a) to  =   14

Note  that  if  a  =  -4    then f (a)  =  f (-4)  = (-4)^2  - 2  =  14

And  if  a  =  17  then   2(17) - 20  =  14

So

a = 17    or  a  = - 4

And  their  +  difference  =  21

Second  one  :

Since  AB = AD   angles ABD  and BDA   are equal  = 72

So  angle BAD  = 180  -  ABD - BDA  =  180 - 72 - 72  =  36

And  since BA =  BC  then angle  BCA  =  angle BAD   =  36  =  angle BCD

So....by  the exterior agle Theorem angle BDC  =  angle ABD + angle BAD  =  72 + 36 =  108

So...angle  DBC  =  180  - BDC - BCD  =  180  - 108 - 36  =  36

So  angles  DBC  and BCD  are  equal...so   DC  =  BD...so  .....BCD is isosceles

First  one

Angle CDA  = 90 

Since DEF is equilateral, then  angle  EDF  =  60  =  angle DEF

So  since CDF is  a straight  line,  then  angle ADE  =  180 - CDA - EDF  =    180  - 90 - 60  =  30

And  AD = AE  so angle  AED  = angle  ADE

So....angle AEF  =  angle  AED + angle DEF  =   60  + 30  =  90

Common diiference   = 1  - 2/3  =  1/3
