Note, guest that  the  - /-  solution is

- (3x - 1)  = - (2x + 6)

But multiplying through by -1 would produce the first solution that geno presented

And the  -/+   solution is

- (3x - 1)  = (2x + 6)

Again, mutiplying through by -1 produces geno's second solution

So.....these other two are superfluous........

For those who are being "thrown" off when they're supposedly logged in.....this happened to me at my local library.....I found that the rememdy was to access the site using Google Chrome.....I don't know whether this will work for you, bur it might be worth a shot.....

3x-5y-15=0   rearrange to solve for y

3x - 15  = 5y   divide both sides by 5

(3/5)x - 3   = y       the slope is  (3/5)

And since parallel lines have the same slope.....the equation of a parallel line passing through  (3, -2)  is

y = (3/5) (x - 3) - 2

y = (3/5)x - 9/5 - 2

y = (3/5)x - 9/5 - 105

y = (3/5)x - 19/5

I think this is supposed to be :   x^2 + 7x + 12

Factored  =   (x + 3) ( x + 4)

Note to the questioner.....the "Guest" is correct.......these are the same equations....thus.....the "system" will have infinite solutions for x and y
