Cosh is actually just the ordinary Cosine, though it's name is a little fancier: Hyperbolic Cosine. The same goes for the rest of the trigonometric notations.

What model of calculator DO you have? I may be able to help, and this place does have scientific mode too...

Simple, since you have the f(x) function already, all it's telling you is to plug in 3 where x is.

If you want to put an exponent bgger than 2 then use the ^ button then nput the exponent after it.

Example: 500 to the power of 5456 = 500^5456

If you are doing it on a calculator, then the reason why is because nobody in higher levels of math use remainder, they use an approximation of the number as it is actually applicable to many mathematics. Otherwse, remainders are obsolete and need to be found by hand.

Well if you want to make a decimal into a percentage all you need to do is multiply that decimal by 100 and slap a percentage sign on the result.

From fractions you need to convert the fraction into a decimal, then repeat the steps above.

That depends on what you need for the sphere, such as surface area or volume...

If you need a good way to memorize it just sing this song (to the tune of Pop Goes the Weasle):

You are given:

x^2 - |y|

Plug in your values (x = 3 and y =-5)

(3)^2 - |-5|

Simplify the terms:

9-5

Subtract:

4

Now just do as I did but with the other problem. I have faith you can do it.
