anything to the 0th power is 1.
So 2^x * 2^y = 1.
RIght?
so if you have a number with a neg. exponent, it's basically the reciprocal of that.
Well, a number and it's reciprocal multiplied equals one.
Just stick to 2^-1 * 2^1 = 2^0. We have (-1, 1)
Well, we know about reciprocals, so 2^3/ 2^(-3) = 8/ ( 1/8). That's 8^8 = 64. 64 = 2^6. We have -3 and 6.
so 1/8 times x^-3 = 10^y.
Huh.
Well then y must also be negative.
so, if 10^-3, it's 1/1000, so 1/8 * 1/125 = 1/1000.
Funny. 1/125 = 5^-3.
