or do you mean
-1 and minus a quarter more which is -(1 +1/4) = $$-1\frac{1}{4}$$

cancel the 2 and the 6 by 2 and you have -5/3 *1 = -5/3 = -1and 2/3
What is the minus sign there for?
1/4 = 2/8
so you have
1+2/8+7/8
= 1+9/8
=1+1+1/8
=2 and 1/8
