Very interesting question. No high level maths required.
This question was posted a couple of days ago.

I think it is really interesting. It looks much more difficult than it really needs to be.

Some guidelines for question askers.
Please note:
1) Ask only one question per post.
2) When asking a question talk about what you have tried for yourself. Then people will take you more seriously and will be more able and willing to help.
3) If you get an answer

There is a formula but I don't use it and I can never remember what it is because it is not necessary.
I'd just say (40/360)*2pi*r = 3000
Then just solve the equation.

if cscθ = x+6/x-2 and ctnθ = x+5/x-2 find θ
Hi Diaanaa,
I am having problems with your question.
Before I try further I just want to make sure that you meant
If Cosec(theta) = x + (6/x) - 2
and cotangent(theta) = x + (5/x) - 2
find theta
(We dont use the shortened versions csc and ctn in Australia, we use cosec and cot)
Please let me know if my interpretation of the question is correct.

Probabilities must be between 0 and 1 inclusive
If something cannot happen, the probability is 0
If something has to happen the probability is 1
So you probability of 3 doesn't make any sense.
Maybe you meant P(black or gold) = 3/7
There are 9 marbles that are either black or gold
Let there be x white marbles.
So the number of marbles altogether is 3+6+2+6+x = 17+x
so 9/(17+x) = 3/7
Now just solve it as a little equation to get the value of x.

no it doesn't have to be
example
root12 and root3 are both irrational but
root12/root3 = 2

Divide both sides by 2
Subtract 6x from both sides
Divide both sides by the number in front of the x (the x coefficient)
the answer will be negative.

The number of ways 5 numbers can be selected from 54 is
54C5 = 54!/(5!*49!) = 3162510
The number of ways you can select 4 things from 5 is 5C4 = 5
So the probability of being a small fry winner is 5/3162510
The probability of being any winner is 6/3162510

This is an irrational number unless your base is some power of 5 so the the best exact answer is
0.34log5
Ans yes, if you want an estimate and it is base 10 or base e do it on your calculator.
