are they meant to be x's or times signs.
I think mighty has takent them as times signs.

I'll assume that they are x's

[ (5x-3)/6 ] - [ (2x-6)/5 ]

You need a common denominator which will be 30
so it becomes

[ 5(5x-3)/30 ] - [ 6(2x-6)/30 ]

Can you take it from there?

for example 3* 1 2/3 - 8 1/4

3* (1+ 2/3) - (8 +1/4)

It really depends what you want to do with them That is add, subtract, multiply or divide. ?

There are 13 hearts in the deck and 4 queens but one of those queens is a heart, so the number of favourable events is 13+4-1=16

The probability of choosing a queen or a heart on the first draw is 16/52 ==> 4/13
