40m of fencing, what is the maximum area possible?

Lets say the fencing makes a circle:

Using circumference of a circle:

40 = 2 * pi * r

   r = 6.366.......

 

Area = pi * radius^2

       = pi * 6.366^2

       = 127.32 meters squared
