A contractor is building the base of a circular fountain. On the blueprint, the base of the

fountain has a diameter of 18 centimeters. The blueprint has a scale of three centimeters to

four feet. Explain how to find the actual area of the base of the fountain after it is built, in

square feet. Round your answer to the nearest hundredth.

Blueprint diameter  =  18 cm

3cm  =  4 ft

So

18 cm = 24 ft  = actual diameter

So  12 ft is  the actual radius

So....area =   pi (12)^2   ≈  452.39 ft^2
