Using the distance fromula, we have

D =√[(4 - 6)^2 + (12 - 2)^2] =

√[4 + 100]=

√104=

2√26 units

And since each unit is.5 miles we just need to divide this by 2 to get

√26 miles ≈ 5.099 miles

Can you work out what I have done here?

a) I have plotted the points,

b) drawn in a right angled triangle,

c) found the distance on the short sides using subtraction

d) Found the hypotenuse using Pythagorean theorem

How many units on the graph is it?

Remember each unit represents only half a mile so how many miles will it be?
