Okay, so, if you want to learn how to do this equation instead of some jack a*s giving you the answer. All you have to do for this equation is solve for p. We can make this easier by thinking of it as combining like terms, so 5p and 4p are like terms but they are on the opposite sides of the equation. So to combine the terms together you would have to take the opposite of 4p from each side, and the opposite of a positive (+) 4p is an negative (-) 4p so you would subtract the like terms: "(5p-4p) + 2 = -1" and get "p + 2 = -1". Now we have to get p by itself, because we want to know how to solve the equation using p but at this point the +2 is in the way of completing the equation. So now we have to combine the other like terms which would be a positive 2 and a negative (-) 1 therefore you would take the opposite of positive 2 from both sides: " p = (-2-1)" then we combine the like terms in the parenthesis to get "p = -3" and there is your answer! To make sure your right you can always plug -3 into p in the original eqution but that wont be necessary for this simple equation.
