A rectangle is inscribed in a right isosceles triangle, such that two of its vertices lie on the hypotenuse, and two other on the legs. What are the lengths of the sides of the rectangle, if their ratio is 7:2, and the length of the hypotenuse is 45 in?

Have you drawn it?

It might be easier to see if you put the right angle at the top so that the base of it is horizontal.

 

Hint: Use similar triangles.

When you see that all the triangles in the diagram are similar then the working becomes almost trivial.
