this might sound dumb but how did you take out pi....
pi is roughly 3.14.
" 972 pi = 2pi *x^2 + 2pi * x * 5x divide out pi and simplify " <======= so divide both sides of the equation by pi to get:
972 = 2 x2 + 10x2
